HOW I GOT TO COSTA RICA

Living on Cape Cod MA, I was sick of paying so much in Real Estate Taxes, and looking for outside investments. I went to Belize, Jamaica, Honduras, and Mexico, and they are nice places to visit, but not to live, for me.

So, I and three friends (Phil, a great guy, later purchased a property in Jaco, but since has passed away) go to Costa Rica on 9/11, from Boston, we were in the next gate to the plane that hit the TOWERS, we were talking to some of the passengers, of course we get stuck in Florida for five days, then returned to Cape Cod. American Airlines rescheduled our trip to Thanksgiving. We stayed at the Best Western Hotel in San Jose center, and back then the police and taxi cab drivers told us not to walk the streets. So we decided if Costa Rica is that unsafe we should just go back home. ( Not thinking that was a major city, and all cities have areas that are unsafe ) The Best Western was great, they changed our reservations to Jaco, and said if we do not like Jaco, the last night was FREE. What did we have to lose. So another adventure, Road Trip, and it was an adventure, we rented a car and headed to Jaco. We got LOST and ended up in Tamarindo, and Flamingo, finally got t o Jaco about 11pm, we put Phil to sleep and went out. The Beatle Bar had just opened a few months earlier, but we unfortunately went to Divas, and the drinks for the girls were $27 each, but for the men only $4, and in about five minutes our tab was $287. we went crazy and almost arrested, never went back again, and told everyone how they rip people off.

The next day we drove to Quepos and to Manuel Antonio to look around for the day. We all agreed to put up $25,000 each and buy something. The next day I went to a Real Estate office and looked at about 45 properties and that night had offers on six properties and the next morning had breakfast here at Sunrise ( the property that we purchased), and we signed the Purchase and Sales agreement, and I put down a good deposit, and to close in 30 days, end of December. You know the story the other three backed out, and I either closed or lose my deposit, I closed, and I am glad they backed out. Of course, all government agencies are closed from December 15th to January 15th, so I closed and had everything in escrow till it could be recorded.

MURPHY’S LAW, Murphy must have been born in Costa Rica, and he definitely retired here.

HAVE A GREAT DAY

THANK YOU FOR YOUR VISIT
